REGULAR MEETING

NOVEMBER 21, 2005

MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER:  Chairperson Kathy Schroeder called the regular meeting of the Loon Lake School Board of Directors to order at 6:33 p.m. and led the pledge of allegiance.

 

CONSENT AGENDA:  Don Schroeder moved to approve the consent agenda containing the October 17, 2005 Board Minutes, the Special Board Meetings of November 14 and 18, 2005, and the October payroll in the amount of $89,080.85 and excluded the November 2005 GF Accounts Payable.  Jeff Potts seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

 

CHANGES TO THE AGENDA:  November Accounts Payable added to New Business Item #B.

 

REPORTS:  Facilities:  Steve Waunch updated the Board on the plumbing problem in the staff bathroom.  It has been temporarily repaired and is scheduled for further repairs on Monday, November 28.  Board:  Leona Adams reported on the articles that were printed in the Loon Lake Times for November 2005.   Both the Strategic Plan and the Board Goals contain goals for more Community/Parent Involvement and the Board/Staff use the Loon Lake Times for communication to both groups.  Seattle WSSDA Conference in January – any Board member interested will contact the office. 

Superintendent:  Steve Waunch presented the October financial statement and discussed the current enrollment numbers.   On December 12, 2005, the State Board of Education will meet to discuss the proposed transportation cooperative between Loon Lake and Valley School Districts with a decision as early as the 13th.   The winter bus inspection took place and three buses were put out of service with all three placed back on the road before the end of the day.  Reimbursement checks from several Homelink Families were received by the District for overpayment in October 2005.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  Don Schroeder moved to table the 2nd reading of Policy #2245.  Jeff Potts seconded the motion.  Discussion followed – several changes will be made.  The motion carried.   Jeff Potts moved to approve the Board Goals that were presented.  Don Schroeder seconded the motion.  The motion carried.  Steve Waunch will provide each staff member with a copy of the goals.  Kathy Schroeder requested a list of the Homelink staff and their duties also a calendar of the Homelink school year.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Board Policy 3422 was read for the 1st time.   Don Schroeder moved to pay the November Vouchers as presented.  Jeff Potts seconded the motion.  Discussion followed.  Leona Adams abstained from voting on Voucher #137.  The motion carried.   The board asked whether or not the bid was accepted for $2,500.00 to purchase a used bus with a lift.  It was reported that a $3,000.00 bid was submitted by another district. 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE PUBLIC:  December 7 – Caroling 5:30 p.m.; Book Fair December 7-15; Elves’ Gift Express December 7, 8 and 9; December 15 – Winter Program 6:30 p.m.; December 19 – Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m.

 

EVALUATION:  One – Will be given to each Board Member before the next meeting.

 

ADJOURNMENT:   DON SCHROEDER MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.  JEFF POTTS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED.  CHAIRPERSON KATHY SCHROEDER ADJOURNED THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LOON LAKE SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS AT 8:48 P.M.
