Loon Lake Families,

Governor Inslee held a press conference today and announced a statewide closure of all K-12 school districts, beginning Tuesday, March 17th and continuing through Friday, April 24th

So what does this mean for Loon Lake?  I’d like to talk about three things.  First off, we as a school district are committed to doing everything we can to support our students and families.  Since I sent out my last message, I have been inundated with messages from staff members offering to do everything they can to help our community during this mandated closure.  This is why the Loon Lake family is strong.  We will get through this together.

Secondly, let’s talk about Monday, March 16th.  We will hold school on Monday as planned.  If your family is feeling healthy and you want to send your child to school, we will be there waiting.  If you are not comfortable sending your child to school on Monday, we completely understand.  Do what is best for your family, but please call us on Monday to let us know if your child will not be attending that day.

Finally, I must admit that I do not have all of the answers right now.  In my 17 years of education, I have never seen anything remotely like this.  It’s going to take us a few days to get solid answers and solid plans in place, and I thank you in advance for your patience as we work on this.  We will work on nothing in the coming days except figuring out how we can provide childcare for those that need it, how we can continue to feed our kids, and how we can continue to support your child’s learning.

If you need anything at all, please feel free to reach out to me directly.  If you can’t reach me on the school phone, I check my email a thousand times a day, so shoot me a message at and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I will update you all next week.

Thank you!
