Monday, March 18, 2024 - Situation that Happened Today

This morning, we had an older gentleman approach our playground fence while a small group of our kids were outside playing.  The teachers who were out there quickly put distance between him and their kids.  He was mentioning candy canes and gifts from santa.  He left after a couple minutes.  We called the Sheriff’s office, and they responded quickly.

There is no reason to believe that this gentleman was up to anything nefarious.  However, it is obviously not ok to approach our playground in this way.  Please remind your kids about things like stranger danger, and not accepting any kinds of candy or gifts from people they do not know.  Keeping kids safe is truly a community effort.

If you have any questions, please reach out.

Wednesday, March 13, 2024 - Family Literacy Night, No School Friday, & Conference Slips

Tomorrow night we are holding a Family Literacy Night starting at 5:30.  We will play some bingo and do a book walk for prizes, and have other literacy activities for families.  Light snacks and beverages will be provided.  Hope you can make it!

We have no school on Friday.  This was a built-in snow make up day that we didn’t need, which is a good thing.

And finally, conferences are coming up on March 28th and 29th.  Slips with your date and time will be coming home early next week, so please look for those.

If you need anything at all, please give us a call!

Monday, February 5, 2024 - Skiing and Skating Information

We are excited about our first ski and skate day of 2024, coming up on Thursday, February 8th!

First, regarding skiing.  We met with all the kids going skiing today and reviewed the expectations and rules.  Following these rules is absolutely paramount.  Safety is our top priority, and the rules we have help maximize safety.  Please review the importance of following the rules with your child.

Remember your child needs a warm coat, snow pants, gloves, socks, a backpack, extra dry clothes, and a tight-fitting beanie if you have one.  Big puffy beanies won’t fit under the required helmets.  If you need help with any of these items, please let us know as soon as possible.

The bus will be returning from the mountain between 5:30 and 5:45 on Thursday, so please plan on arriving at our parking lot by 5:30.

And last note about skiing, all ski money is due before the bus leaves on Thursday.

And a quick note about skating.  We are heading to the skating rink to skate.  No arcade games will be allowed.  If you choose to send some money for your child to spend at the snack bar, that is fine.  But again, no arcade games or any kind of token, ticket, or prize game will be allowed.

We know these trips are going to be a blast!  Thank you so much for your support in making them happen.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

Monday, January 22, 2024 - Information for Kids Going Skiing

This message is for our 2nd through 6th grade families of kids who are going on our ski trips in February.

The ski forms with all the information you need went home Friday.  On those forms it talks about the website you need to go to register your child.  Please go online and fill out the info by Thursday, January 25th.

Money is due to the office by February 5th.

If you have questions about any of this, please give us a call!  We are happy to help!

Monday, January 22, 2024 - 2 Hour Delay

We have some icy bus routes this morning, so instead of our typical Monday 1 hour late start, we will have a 2 hour late start today, Monday, January 22nd.  School will start at 11:00.  All buses will run 2 hours late, including buses for students who live in our community but attend school outside of our district.

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 - Buses Slow Going Home

Just a quick message to let you know that, due to the conditions of the roads, we should anticipate some buses being later than usual getting students home.  Safety is our number one priority and we appreciate your patience!

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 - 2 Hour Delay

Due to inclement weather, Loon Lake School District will be running 2 hours late today, Wednesday, January 17th.  All buses will run 2 hours late, including buses for students who live in our community but attend school outside of our district.

We will continue to monitor the roads, and if the plan needs to change, we will let you know ASAP.

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 - Winter Weather

While most of this winter so far has been pretty mild, we now find ourselves facing white stuff on the ground and bitterly cold temperatures.  Just so you know, if the temperature dips below 15 degrees, we will be inside for recesses.  However, this really doesn’t happen very often.  Most of the time, we are outside.  Please make sure our kids are bringing coats, boots, gloves, and hats to school.  If you need one of these items, let us know.

Another good idea is to bring a pair of dry clothes to keep in your child’s backpack.  Wet and cold weather can cause wet and cold clothes, and those are no fun to sit around in.

Again, if you need help providing any of these items, please let us know.

Tuesday, January 9, 2024 - Two Hour Delay

Due to inclement weather, Loon Lake School District will be running 2 hours late today, Tuesday, January 9th.  All buses will run 2 hours late, including buses for students who live in our community but attend school outside of our district.

We will continue to monitor the roads, and if the plan needs to change, we will let you know ASAP.

Thursday, September 7, 2023 - Welcome Back and Reminders

We hope the first few days of school have been awesome for your kids!  We have such an amazing group of students and it feels good to be back in the swing of things!

Your child is bringing home the annual packet of papers to sign today.  Please return these as soon as possible.  We need them back in order for kids to attend our field trips next Wednesday, September 13th.

We are also sending care plans for students needing medication while at school.  These absolutely must be returned before our field trips next week, as we can not take kids off campus without them.

Remember every Monday is a 1 hour late start.  School begins at 10:00 on Mondays.  Your child’s bus should arrive exactly 1 hour later than usual.  If you are dropping your kids off on Mondays, please plan on no earlier than 9:45.

And finally, we have our Open House BBQ on Tuesday, September 12th at 5:00.  We will eat some food and you can learn about your child’s classroom.  Hope to see you there!
